Anne Chambers is the author of the biography of Grace O'Malley ( Granuaile: Ireland's Pirate Queen (Grace O'Malley) 1530-1603.
The true story of Grace O'Malley was once written out of history, but Chambers book has restored the pirate queen to her rightful place as one of Ireland's great historical figures and her story is now part of Ireland's factual past.
Chambers was the first to locate the 400 year old manuscripts and research the factual story of Grace O Malley. The documents were held in private and public collections in Ireland and England much of which had not previously been published or even deciphered.
Now in its 5th edition, this best -selling biography has spread the factual story of one of the world's great warrior women across cultures and continents. The book has inspired composers, artists, poets, sculptors and documentary makers and has never been out of print in 25 years.
Anne is currently the Historical Consultant on the much awaited musical The Pirate Queen which will have its world premiere in Chicago in October, before moving onto Broadway.
The musical is composed by the award-winning Boublil and Schonberg of Les Miserable and Miss Saigon fame and is produced by Moya Doherty and John Mc Colgan producers of the hit show Riverdance.
